Design Work
See what kind of work I can create. Over the years, I have had amazing opportunities to conceptualize and create and build some fun designs for some rad (and trusting) people.
About Me
Web, web application, and mobile application design and front-end web development are my skills. Backed up with a fine arts degree and quite the experience. That’s a start...

Houston Zoo
The Houston Zoo was one of the most satisfying projects I was given the honor of working on. Their internal marketing and media team are incredibly smart and creative in their own right and understand the power of the web.
After extensive research and strategizing, this design was created to drive users to key areas of the site to help boost admission and event ticket sales. Their content heavy approach meant putting as much information out there as possible while keeping it all organized and searchable.
Along with the main site, I also did the design work for their specialized templates for landing pages as well as their blog layout designs.

Bayou City Art Festival
Bayou City Art Festival has been on of the greatest art-centric events in Houston for years. When they rebranded and came into the shop looking for a new website, I jumped!
The biggest problem they were having was that their attendees were spending too much time searching for information that should have been easily to available: Time and date, admission prices, and location – as the festival occurs twice a year in two different locations. I implemented a theme that would swap out depending on where the next festival was occurring and spotlighted more artists and art in effort to spike interest for festival go-ers.

Miller Outdoor Theatre
This design went through a few revisions and they have since had it updated to reflect a more "night" color scheme. The theatre went from a super basic site to something that reflected the experience of attending a play, opera, or concert at the Miller.
The client was super excited about being able to feature future events through the use of calendars and scheduling and highlighting large performances. They were also ahead of the game on social media and wanted to make sure that all of their extra efforts were going back to the site. Smart guys!

The Orange Show
Every city needs something like the Orange Show. Their monument is comprised of recycled...stuff and features an area for live music performances. My first visit was a lot to take in.
The client was the most trusting I have ever gotten to work with. After spending a day running around the Orange Show and taking photos, I went straight to work. I was incredibly inspired and put forth some of my best work - and the client loved it. The design showcases the eccentricity of the Orange Show and their monuments as well as their numerous art focused events. Go visit if you are ever in Houston!

Plasma Cars
Every so often I get to design something way fun and the client decides to go in a different direction. This is one of those designs that fell to the way side for something else. It happens! However, in this case, I am still a fan of this design.
We presented the client with different designs and mine was geared towards a site that the parents or companies who would buy in bulk would be interested in. The idea was to glamorize the plastic plasma cars as if they were fun sports cars. The toy was designed in 3Ds Max and placed in a rotating room. Each color swatch swapped out the car, the background, and the ground to better match. It was a fun chance and I still love what could have been.
Houston Code Camp
I know this really awesome developer/author/Tiny Tower builder who decided that Houston needed to revive their Code Camp. I'm always up for events that bring the tech community together to share knowledge and grow.
There was no branding, no design direction, and the only goals were to get people to register and to provide information about the schedule. Easy enough! I whipped up this design rather quickly and designed individual interior pages to better fit the content. The design was a hit and Code Camp was a total sellout and huge hit within the developer community.

AZA Conference
Every year, the National Association of Zoos and Aquariums has a huge blowout conference at a national zoo. The event is a big deal and when the Houston Zoo was given the honor to host, my team was called in to help design a mini-conference site.
While the bulk of the conference is about the organization's business, there are some pretty big name speakers and fun evening events. With so many attendees coming in, the site was supposed to help the organizers out by providing attendees with scheduling details, city events, and places to eat in the area, and other fun things. The design went over well with the Zoo and the AZA immediately approved of the design.
TechLabs
TechLabs builds...stuff. Basically robotics that helps businesses and manufacturers build other things. They provide for a wide variety of different industries.
They had appointed a new marketing person who sold the CEO on beefing up their online presence - seeing as their website was simply a name and contact information. I literally had to start with a blank page. This design was the first version and it has since been revised a few times according to their wishes. However, this design really showed them the benefits of incorporating dynamic content and how huge chunks of information and can be organized efficiently.
Ronnie Price
While I am not a huge Utah Jazz fan (Go Rockets!), there was no way I was going to pass on the chance to design a small site for NBA rock star Ronnie Price. Not only is he a stellar player, but he also has a great foundation that helps kids.
Ronnie wanted something simple in effort to get his brand (which I also designed) and his events and foundation in front of people’s faces. There are already sports related websites that keeps track of his stats, so he was not all that interested in bragging even more. He loved the design and loved the brand even more. Last I heard, his contract with the Jazz was about to be up and quite a few other teams are trying to woo him.
Houston Humane Society
Sure, designing is incredibly fun and rewarding, but being able to incorporate photos of adorable pets makes it even better. And not just any pets! I procured the majority of the adorable photos used for this layout from friends who had adopted their dogs and cats. In fact, shortly after this design, I went out and adopted my own dog.
The key was to display more than just pets that are up for adoption by providing information about their other services. Houston Humane Society rescues, investigates animal abuse cases, trains older animals for adoption, and so much more. This design shows the more fun side of owning pets through use of fantastic photography and video.
